Smith selected county's Junior Miss

Cortney Smith has been selected as the 2005 Madison County Junior Miss. She is a senior at Bob Jones High School and a a member of the varsity competition cheerleading squad at Bob Jones and is both a Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) All-Star Cheerleader and has received a UCA staff application.

Smith will now move forward to the state finals in Montgomery on Dec. 10-11. The winner of the state finals then participates in the national competition which will be held in Mobile in June of 2005.

As madison County Junior Miss, Smith received a four year scholarship to the University of Alabama in Huntsville as well as a ash tuition scholarship that was presented on behalf of the Madison County Junior Miss Board. Additionally, as the Madison County winner she receives her choice of additional tuition scholarships through the Alabama Junior Miss Scholarship Foundation.

Smith is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and has danced at the North Alabama Dance Center under Barbra Ellen Smart for the past 15 years. Her career goal after graduation from Bob Jones is to receive a degree in fashion design from the University of Alabama.

Smith is the daughter of Richard and Donna Smith of Madison and the grand-daughter of David and Jan Henderson of Harvest and Mac and Lucy Smith of Huntsville.
